Might & Power
Megaton Sword
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: MEGATON SWORD; signed via Dying Victims Records, hailing from Swiss grounds - performing Heavy Metal, on their sophomoric full-length studio album entitled: "Might & Power" (released February 24th, 2023). Since formation in 2018; the quintet in question have an EP entitled: "Niralet" (released November 8th, 2019) & 2 full-length studio albums in their discography so far entitled: "Blood Hails Steel - Blood Hails Fire" (released November 13th, 2020), on top on this here second offering of which I am introduced to entitled: "Might & Power" in their discography so far. 8 tracks ranging around 39:23 - MEGATON SWORD arrange an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Heavy Metal developments.
Opening up with this rumbling roll of a drum hammering introduction: "The Raving Light Of Day" forges a blistering bombardment in belting clobbers that reverberates with thudding sturdiness & monolithic tempo that slays with grinding density; distilling a boisterously bouncy calamity in hefty rompiness, while rampantly reverberating with weighty tightness on top of this punchline thunder that rips with shredding momentum. Stridently swerving with this trailblazing synergy; this primitively raw finesse attributes at an amplified adrenaline, fabricating an all guns blazing firepower expertise that soars with meaty maelstrom stability to boot... injecting a barrage frenzy on razor-sharp hooks and bulldozing distortion that's rather striking, especially in "Iron Plains".
Rollicking with organic substance & volatile nimbleness, this vivacious tonality frolics into a galloping flamboyance, harnessing a complexly dexterous dynamic from guitar duo rippers Chris the Axe & Seth Angel. Twinning with quintessential virtuosity; this relentless strife swifts with rapidly snappy pursuit on towering surges of sulphureous slabbiness, rifting with solid riffing and audible bass flickers from Simon the Sorcerer, where this thumpy yet rambunctious calamity bludgeons eardrums with riveting pierces... as an intense chop crafts an exuberant herald on profusely robust elements in Heavy Metal kicks that's strong & mighty. "Power" & "Cowards Remains" manifests with salubriously unique vehemence; utilizing versatile masquerades on melodic songwriting musicianship technicality which stampedes with impactful impulses of steely precision.
"Raikaszi" ramifies with concretely gritty executions in archaic archetypes of flexible fundamentals in crunchy doses of empowering aesthetics that transitions with zestful tremolo patterns and implosive crescendo elements, implementing a hybrid but experimental construct in buoyant but groovy assimilation in grandiose grandeurs of a firing all cylinder's approach that's rather vigorous with the stompy exhilarations in place. Not to forget Uzzy Unchained's hardened but grumbling cords; his raspy vocals yell with shouty throatiness and heightened gutturals, high-pitched sometimes which made me think of ROSS THE BOSS' Marc Lopes a little... embedded with this signature prowess for good flair.
"All Wicked Schemes Unite" conjures up more killer revs; harnessing a fluidly polished sound production proficiency that piledrives with rambunctious slaps & smacking rhythms of quirky yet meticulous wickedness on radical rigor, showcasing this spectacle of embellishing instrumental equality that will get heads banging in no time. The penultimate banger "Might" is in the title; this steamrolling fabrication in uproarious mettle soars of catchy licks that overall concludes "Might & Power" with the finale epic anthem rocker "Babe Eternal"; an enriching basher that thrashes near the end abruptly, heavily enthralling souls with sonically seamless material that will make you marvel throughout this rhapsodic & powerful record which will start your day off rightly with no doubt.
Bottom line; I am compelled to say that MEGATON STEEL have most surely outdone themselves with "Might & Power"; while they may not quake MANOWAR status, but they do provide an intriguing listen of persistent perseverance's in Heavy Metal masterclass that's worthy of spinning & replaying a good bunch of times. An enjoyably entertaining discovery awaits you, most definitely do check it out.
