Bloodpainted Visions of Perpetual Conflict
Martoriator

In the second half of the 80s, the mixing between influences of Death Metal, Black Metal and D-Beat Hardcore became the primordial soup from where Death/Black Metal rose. Pioneers as SARCÓFAGO, BEHERIT, BLASPHEMY and others created the core ideas that were expanded in the 90s, and the genre is still here. And the Italian duet MARTORIATOR with its first full-length, the mass-murdering “Bloodpainted Visions of Perpetual Conflict”, show as the genre can evolve keeping its primeval elements.
Davide Billia (of Mk2 Recording Studio in Ivrea, Turin) signs the production and recordings, the choice was for a massive and aggressive sonority, with thunderous instrumental tunes, to boost the weighty appeal of the band’s music. But unlike many, things were done in a defined form that allows the hearers to understand what’s being played. It’s really a very good work. Fast, insidious, nasty, furious and caustic, the music of the duet is fast and furious, like a massive nuclear assault; on the other hand, behind the sound wall of their music, one can check that they are able to created excellent instrumental arrangements. It’s chaotic and aggressive in a way that can cause earaches, but with energy and personality, indeed.
For their choice for a better sonority than the usual for such trench on Death/Black Metal (and some Grindcore touches as well), the duet shows ability to leave aside models and formulas and unleash a WWIII set of songs, using its aggressive and fast approach to create 8 odes to chaos and destruction. “Cannibal Dictatorship”, “Nail Rain”, “Chaos Protocol”, “Red Flowers of Nanjing”, “Symphonies of War”, “66 Tons of Armored Hatred”, “Thermonuclear Reset” and “Perpetual Conflict” are proofs that - even being a new name - they know what they’re doing and what they want to do.
Is “Bloodpainted Visions of Perpetual Conflict” a flawless release? No, not at all. But it shows that MARTORIATOR is up to create one in the near future!
