Sex, War & Prayers
Love Forsaken

Without being that bad, I can't really say that Sex, War & Prayers impressed me. This is pretty much a classic case of an average album. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that melodic Death Metal is being overpopulated the last 4-5 years.
Love Forsaken formed in 1998 in Belluno, Italy. Up till 2000 they had released two demos, Lightfull Experience and Inhumanculture. Two more releases followed, Dead Sun and Suddenly Loki Faces. In August 2004 the band used Majestic Studios to record their debut album Sex, War & Prayers. Just for the record, I strongly advise them to use a spelling editor because their biography on their website is full of eye-poking mistakes.
As I've mentioned earlier, this is typical Death Metal. Abbott does a great job on the keyboards adding lots of color and Danny has a very good voice (for a growler). Sadly these are the only positive aspects of the album. The compositions are flat with no peaks whatsoever, leaving nothing in mind after the listening ends. The lack of originality and personal sound is what kills this decent work. Even the good production can't salvage much.
It seems that the band needs time to work on their compositions. There are good ideas in many songs, but nothing complete. Keep up working on it, guys.
