From the foggy plains and wet woodlands of southern Dalarna, LASER DRACUL (2016) has risen to envelope thee in doomy rock and/or metal - take your pick. "Hagridden" is dark, heavy and wicked music, music stale as decades of accumulated sweat, spilt ale and tobacco stains like the broadloom of a very old English pub - crikey, we gotta bring the Limeys into it ... aw-righty then let's crack on ...

Old skool production is on tap here. Mick comes in fists up with his bass on first song 'Ashes and Dust', his vocals following the smoke into Al Cisneros land. 'High Tide Striding' has a SABBATH 'Electric Funeral' doom thang going down with some subtle Ham-and Organ, cutting the foggy fuzz and dealing the dirty dirge on a swinging hamster wheel vocal melody... into the desert, down below ... hi ho, hi ho  'Into the Night We Go' builds some pressure without pulling the cork and letting the wizz zizz  ... get ready for another song ... 'Now You See It' is my fav stink fingered cut here, spinning a walkover groove that pins your carcass to the shadowbox with Mick laying down vocals like Jaz Coleman of KILLING JOKE in aphotic and nomadic tran-siberian chant. 'Ill in Spirit' sees a return to the Hammond organ but it does little to lift this tune into the ill-ness. 'Mother Midnight' closes down this hag-hole with a coal mine blitzkrieg bop of big rawk black bottom doom.

I had everything boosted below 500 Hz as well as a touchup above 12.6Khz to catch some air and get this recording to sound more to my liking using my new audio gadget the Voxengo Marvel GEQ, which I use side-chained to my lesser gods of streaming Tidal and Audacity.
