Lacuna Coil have managed to become in less than 3 years one of the best Gothic Metal bands around. From their great first release to the  Haflife EP and the amazing In A Reverie, someone into this kind of music can hardly find a flaw. And some people, including me, appreciate them as much, if not more (in my case at least) than The Gathering.
Their new album Unleashed Memories is released and I was really happy from the first time I listened to it since it was all I expected. Cristina's voice is enchanting as always, and Andrea's vocals have improved over the short past. The beauty and the beast combination works really well, giving the songs the feeling they were supposed to. The music and lyrics are the typical Lacuna Coil; well worked, melodic and melancholic (Cold Heritage is one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard), yet without reaching the extremeties of the sad limits some bands seek in this genre (another nail for H.I.M.'s coffin). This means that this is a great album to listen to, wether you feel sad or not, and it sure is one that will take a long time to leave your CD player!
Do I have to state how much I love this band and especially their frontlady Cristina? Yes, I do. Another great release from a great band. This gives them more resposibilities though, 4 great albums in 3 years is something hard to keep up, but Lacuna Coil have everything it takes to prove statistics wrong!
