Here's a concept: Metalcore with flavor and blackened and progressive elements. Does that sound intriguing? Then you might like "Worldwide Negative", the latest full-length from KRYSTHLA. It takes a while to pronounce their name right from memory, but their music is much more memorable, sticking to simplistic execution yet having hooks left and right.

Personally, I never thought I'd find a Metalcore album that I actually enjoy, but here it is. I honestly think that anyone with an open mind, even a slightly ajar mind, could find something to love about this album. The atmosphere combines very nicely with the Hardcore elements and simplistic riffing style. Better yet, the vocals aren't extremely cringy as I find most Metalcore. The vocals are normal and matured, and they sound good whether they're harsh or clean.

Not to mention, this album is full of very packed songs. With just eight tracks going at around 42 minutes, some of these songs have a lot of chops, extending some tracks to the six-minute time range. The album is even structured nicely, each song having a similar theme to the rest, and the better tracks are evenly distributed.

"Grief Is New Love" is one of the band's more progressive tracks, having an extensive, atmospheric, instrumental segment that features clean vocals that only add onto the atmosphere. The track is reminiscent of OPETH's earlier days, and it keeps the Metalcore down to a minimum.

According to the band's Facebook page, this album was at one point ranked the second best-selling digital release on Amazon, just behind the new SLIPKNOT album, and there is only one single out so far: "Zero Sum Game". This track shows some very good riffing and chorus hooks and makes for a good representative for the album. There are some complex, atmospheric passages on the track that make it stand out.

Atmosphere is something that comes up a lot when talking about this record, and it is very important to note that this band really made sure to give their music multiple dimensions. The melody and atmosphere (Want to get drunk? Take a shot every time I say "atmosphere") on "White Castles" (not the fast food joint) create an astoundingly beautiful passage that is repeated throughout the song. "Negative" can be noted for not only its atmosphere but also how it is repeated to such as effective measure.

Beyond atmosphere are the riffs themselves. While oftentimes unoriginal, the riffs are fast and well-executed, making their unoriginality irrelevant. It is clear the guitarist has plenty of stamina. "Psalm of Heartlessness" stands out as the most memorable song with riffs simplistic and catchy enough to stay in your long-term memory.

There are a lot of elements to "Worldwide Negative", many of which you'll have to uncover for yourself when it comes out this month. As someone who does not like Metalcore, it is rare for me to say that a Metalcore album is good, let alone perfect. Well, mark your calendars because this is the day I call a Metalcore album perfect. Also mark your calendars for August 16^th because that's when this monster drops.
