Pulled From The Pit
Kryptik Mutation

What's a nice relaxing way to spend a Sunday? Some people would put their feet up, maybe watch some golf or enjoy a nice cold pint (well, in an ideal world...). Me? I'm sitting down in my living room and getting ready to blast some brutal Death Metal through my speakers and just melt into the sofa. Today's music of choice is courtesy of Texan Death Metallers, KRYPTIK MUTATION and their debut album "Pulled From The Pit". The artwork is pretty self explanatory when you see it, although I would like to know the thought train behind the disturbing creature...
Opening is "Placentapede" and you aren't given any warning, nothing to gently ease you in to the intense and aggressive music that spews forth. I love it. The walking bass and guitars in the chorus really helps to create the image of some grotesque mutated centipede just stumbling along and all its legs moving in that weird and unsettling way that they do, you know what I mean that disturbing wave motion. Next comes "Empires Of Galactic Misery"; I am just awestruck by the quality of the recording for the tracking so far, it's a crisp and really well produced sound, something that can sometimes be overlooked in the Extreme Metal circles, and it just really makes such a world of difference.
"Brain Splatter" and "Demon's Crest" continue to propel me through the album at a breakneck speed. The energy in the tracks is unavoidable, even in the breakdowns there is just an unmitigated essence that makes me as a listener want to get up, move and ultimately mosh; but I'm not sure that the present company at home would appreciate that all too much.
"Blistering Blow" delivers blow, after breathless blow (see what I did there?) of blast beats and ruthless riffs that wear you down in a flurry of some of the most delectable Death Metal I have heard in some time. That being said, whilst it wears you down, it also serves again as an electric shock and I just want to move! Think this needs to be added to my gym playlist for sure! "Dying To Rot", "Tied Under A Buzzsaw" and "Sacrifice To Pulverize" take the album on a final sprint to the death. Just when you thought you had nothing left to give to this utter spectacle of an album they continue to deliver again and again. I did not want this to end.
Overall, I cannot fault this. It is raw, unadulterated Old School Death Metal at its absolute fucking finest and I cannot wait to see what is next.
