Unforgettable Stories (That difficult 2^nd single following a great debut EP) - Back in May 2021 Swedish Power metal band Krilloan released their excellent debut EP 'Stories Of Times Forgotten'.  On its release it was acknowledged by many across the metal music world as an outstanding debut, hell, our very own Leanne Evans (Metal Maiden) described it as "a triumph of genius proportions", praise indeed. Songwriter, visionary and guitarist Klas Holmgren had definitely began to fulfill the ambition of writing a masterpiece.

Roll on to October 2021, and with the roar of the crowd still fresh in their ears the desire to build, not consolidate, is evident in their crushing new single 'Angel's Sacrifice'. Its that difficult second, erm, single (actually 4^th single) which can so often bring bands crashing back to Earth following an initial triumph. So, did Krilloan flatter to deceive? Not on your life!! 'Angel's Sacrifice' most definitely continues where 'Stories...' left off. A short, spoken monologue leads us swiftly into a powerful vocal introduction from Alex VanTrue ably backed with yet more killer riffs from Brockmann and Holmgren. This single attacks our senses at a furious pace and we can feel our hearts race to join the tempo. The drumming from Lanas is, once again, relentless as we indeed 'Upon Wings of Fire' arrive.

We do get a bit of a reprieve at about the 2 minute 45 second point as the tempo slows to allow us to catch our breath. Then wham! We're off again. We are treated to a number of solo's of differing lengths throughout and Brockmann truly shows us what he's made of. The vocals throughout are top quality. Whether that be VanTrue's lead or the excellent, harmonized gang backing vocals. The coda continues to gain momentum at a frenetic pace, building deliciously to the inevitable climatic conclusive silence. What a triumph. This is definitely a continuation of form and, as with 'Stories Of Times Forgotten' all the influences are clearly referenced from Halloween to Blind Guardian. The hope is that 'Angel's Sacrifice' is the first single of either another EP or perhaps, more excitingly, a debut full album. Whatever the next step is for Krilloan they have yet to drop the ball, let us hope that their hands continue to be safe.
