Year Of The Octopus

Haling from Finland, these guys wrote on their Myspace page that they are influenced by BLACK SABBATH, JUDAS PRIEST, PENTAGRAM, SAINT VITUS, RAINBOW, CANDLEMASS, all are some of the oldest heavy cannons of Metal, looking up info about the band was pretty hard so I had todo without any backing information.
I will start from the end (soundsbit funny),it's seems that KREYSKULL found a pretty nice niche of sound, they basically fusedDoom with 70s fashioned Rock / Heavy Metal, I didn't encounter any other bands trying to mixthis twodifferent styles, however it doesseem interesting.
KREYSKULL guitar riffing is very gloomy doomy, yetthe rhythms are of the ratherclassic Hard Rockwith clean vocals for the most part. In addition, there aresome deep low pitch vocals that gives an ambient atmosphere to the songs. The best of the rest are: "The Czar of Rock 'n Roll" with a old Doom type guitars with Stoner and 70s classic Metalriffs. I might say very appealing. "Wicked Lady" for me was the best of the best with slow tempodrums and very nice fuzzy guitarsalong the way.
Overall, this is avery nice album with a twist, for all you out there that are into traditionalDoom or 70's Metal, and are willing to try something else, please go for it.
