Kraemer - All the Way album cover

KRAEMER is a Melodic Rock outfit fronted by musician Erik Kraemer. Since no EPK was included from the record label (hint, hint), I am once again going to have to let the music do the talking. Some of the music was written or co-written by the band members he assembled for the band. "Moment For Me" leads off the album. It opens with a big sonic boom of melodic elements and Erik's impressive vocal range. The chorus is rich and full, along with backing harmonies. Lead guitarist Andrea buries the strings on the solo.

"All The Way" begins with keyboards and a rough and heavy guitar riff. The vocals in the verses are free flowing and joined with harmonies in the chorus. Andrea lays down another great guitar solo. "The King Will Come" opens with melodic sensibilities in the guitar work. Let the sound develop...and it will give you that swift kick in the butt you need on a Monday morning. "Eat Your Heart Out" begins with a faster moving riff and vocalist Erik goes for broke in the chorus. The bridge before the guitar solo is mellow but the sound swings back quickly. The scream at the end could shatter glass.

"Tonight" is the modern day equivalent to a "power ballad," opening with keys and a thumping bass line. The song is a little more emotional and poignant, talking about a past love that hits him on a given night alone. "Take Me Back To" begins with a strong melody in the keys and a but rougher guitar riff. The chorus harkens me back to some of my favorite 80's songs, and leaves a memorable mark on my palate. "How Can I Survive" begins with charming piano notes and easy listening vocals. Solemn tones abound in the beginning, which turn hard with resolve. The chorus is rich and full of longing elements. The guitar solo bleeds with bluesy elements.

"Cold Spell" begins with a catchy keyboard sound followed by the steady pumping of bass guitar. The riff slams in along with harmonies in the vocals, and Erik once again shows his prowess in the upper ranges. "Lovin' A Stranger" is a shorter song with more Pop sensibilities. The energy that flows from this song is infectious, and the chorus is very catchy as well. This firecracker might be the best song on the album. "I'm in Love Again" begins with a heavier riff and some rumbling in the bottom end. The chorus is again a catchy affair full of backing vocals. "Forever" is the swan song. Sad tones open the song with piano notes. A key change ushers in even more poignant moments in the chorus.

This was certainly a very lovely album to listen to, and had catchy melodies and a very strong front man. Erik might be the best part of the band...his vocals can go from easy flowing in the lower ranges to glass shattering elements in the upper ranges. But unlike a lot of solo acts, his cast of musicians also co-wrote many of the songs. It's a collection of feel-good songs that will pick you up on a dreary day.
