Ozzie Grindcore/Thrash 5-piece return to our ears following a 3-year gap from Ugly Produce. I got into these guys by listening to their 2012 Independent release of Bite Your Head Off. Reason I got into them was they were supposed to be touring with DECAPITATION before the accusations cancelled the tour. We now know this was all made up and I am gutted they never did this tour. Let's hear what they hear thrown out for us.
"Banished, Flawed then Docile" kicks off the 4-track with a frantic-paced opening. The melody is intense and the vocals match, mixing the Hardcore aspects of Grindcore with the Thrash pacing. The tempo never ceases throughout and if frantic Thrash if what you're into then you will have enjoyed this start.
"Blunder to Asunder" is another short one, 91-seconds. Good build up for the melody. The tempo is set to a decent level and the beat never slows. This is another attack of frantic speed and aggression. Little to say, nothing wrong with it, but of course, not very expansive.
"Nor is Yours" opens up aggressive and in similar way to the previous without sounding monotonous. The aggression in the vocals pierces out as the guest vocals screams of one of the most recognizable names in Metal joins on. The lyrical content is all aggressive screams, so Phil's presence in this song doesn't add a lot to the song, and if the name wasn't mentioned, I would have thought it was just another member of the band. Not a great use of guest appearance, but must have been an amazing occasion for the band themselves.
"Kick up a Stink" continues the overall feel and still does not slow down or allow any gaps, which is a great trick. The vocals are easier to make out here and add a further depth within the high-speed attack. Then to close it all, a raspberry. Nice
The EP is less than 8-minutes long, so you were never gonna get a lot from this. What we got however, is 4 songs that never slow down, doesn't allow you to take it all in until its ended. It could have just been one long song, but the songs themselves work. They can go into many playlists and easily be enjoyed for the very short playing periods. Hopefully these guys will give us more songs in the up and coming months once it is easier to record.
