Fury and Death

King

Indeed, you don’t hear too many albums in the genre of Black or Death Metal with this level of creativity or diversity, while still maintaining the core of their sound. It’s just enough experimentation to keep a curious listener engaged while not driving away the original fans, Well done, lads, well done.

The band states: “We’re excited to have signed a deal with the mighty Soulseller Records to release a musical work that we’re extremely proud of. The time has come to descend from the frozen peaks and let our new music see the light of day “Fury and Death” is a tumultuous battle through epic blasting melodies, uplifting soaring choruses and intense and driving hooks. Prepare for the pilgrimage.”

“Mist” is first. It’s a short mood-setter, and the mood is grey, and somber. Acoustic guitars take us to “Perception Ignited.” The tones are thick with drums and riffs and the vocals are harsh, and Black Metal fueled. They ride the wave until the half-way mark, when a more powerful sound enters. “Mountains of Ice” is a shorter blast of Black Metal, but also has some Death Metal tones, especially in the riffs, and the band is pretty good at the balance here. “Black Dimension” has a more thoughtful sound with a good balance of melody and aggression, and you can begin to feel the band’s high level of musicianship. I feel like I am inching closer and closer to the fire as a listener.

“Into the Fire” features the furious drumming of David Haley. Seriously, listen to how he keeps the meter on point while adding machine gun bass kicks. It is really the backbone of the album in many ways, and the riffs are inventive as well. “Death in the Cosmos” is another powerful offering with audible bass notes, and an ultra-heavy bottom end, especially with the advent of the chorus. It seems that the band still has some tricks up their sleeve. “Crepescular” comes out of the gates with a shot of melody, and a more discernable riff. Again, the band is full of surprises. The song loses none of its inherent power however, no matter how strong the guitar harmonies are.

“To the Stars” closes the album. It has another original sound but still the same backbone structure of the album in general, and this is probably what the band does best. Indeed, you don’t hear too many albums in the genre of Black or Death Metal with this level of creativity or diversity, while still maintaining the core of their sound. It’s just enough experimentation to keep a curious listener engaged while not driving away the original fans, Well done, lads, well done.
