From their Facebook page, "KING, an unfaltering and Melancholic Blackened Metal force - keeping the spirit of old while carving a new path, epic while remaining raw, majestic while retaining a primitive atmosphere. Within the debut album "Reclaim The Darkness", KING creates the perfect soundtrack to tell tales of an old world, a world forged by the gods and walked by giants. Tales of dark and bleak battles, never ending winters and the wonders of time and space. They are now back with their latest release, titled "Coldest of Cold," which contains ten new tracks.

"Conquer" leads off the album. It's a fairly bleak and intense Black Metal sound, with rolling drums, vile vocals, and a wall of riffage. "Mountains Call" has a more discernible riff and cadence. It also had an ominous feeling to it in the music, while the vocals rage over top thunderous drumming. I can't however hear much from the bass guitar, if there is any. "Coldest of Cold" opens with a slower pace and some dissonance in the guitars. There is some melody, particularly in the chorus, as well as a well-timed acoustical ambient passage that occupies about a minute of the mid-section.

"One More War" is faster piece, burning up the earth as it passes, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. This song showcases some solid songwriting as well. "King" opens with some melancholic tones and some regal notes...it's a grinding slow song with a touch of Melo-Death in the music. "In the Light of the New Sun" opens with clean guitars sporting some melody. The main melody line is interesting and provocative. This is really not just Black Metal...it's much more. The accents are hard and inviting. "Beyond the Exosphere" opens with a dual guitar attack and a massive drum presence. A little ambient passage follows around the half-way mark with some background chants...it definitely adds a different element to the music.

"Star" opens with some slower guitar beats and a thick, rich sound. The music is again majestic sounding, with touches of Melo-Death in the twin guitar harmonies. "Ways of the Forest" is another slower, grinding song that threatens to grind you into dust. The riffs are dominating and the vocals vile. "My Master, My Sword, My Fire" closes the album, with a faster moving pace. The bossy riffs keep the song alive and energetic. Overall, I found this album to be just as described...rooted in the traditions of Black Metal but expansive and alive. They incorporate several different elements as I mentioned before to keep the album fresh. I really enjoyed their sound here.
