KARNIVOOL is back! Thank you for returning, guys!! These Australian dudes from Perth have been around since 1998, and have been able to hold on to the current line-up since 2004. They aren't the most prolific and productive writers and musicians in the world, as they only gave us three albums before their current one "In  Verses". As the list is short, I'll name them; "Themata" in 2005, "Sound Awake" in 2009 and "Asymmetry" in 2013. If they would have kept this up, we should have been blessed with albums in 2017, 2021 and 2025. But alas, the band only made those three absolutely brilliant albums. Plus two Eps, "Persona" in 2011 and "Set Fire To The Hive" in 2009. As for a musical style, think Progressive Metal mixed with Djent and Mathcore. That should cover just about everything.

On 6 February 2026 "In Verses" was released, and it is about time, as the first mentions of a new album coming started in 2019. The question is; was it worth the wait? If you ask me, the answer in an unequivocal and resounding YES! It becomes clear from the very start that KARNIVOOL still is able to make music that is anything but standard, that has all the elements you would expect, and with songs that have you on the edge of your seat from the first note until the last. I sometimes even get the feeling that I'm hearing a bit of TOOL in the mix as well, and that is never a bad thing. KARNIVOOL isn't afraid to vary their intensity and loudness as well as their tempo, just to extract the right kind of setting and atmosphere that they are looking for.

The thing is, if you never have heard anything of KARNIVOOL before, you're in for a real treat. So much so that you undoubtedly will be checking their musical history asap. If you already know about the band, you'll be ready to be amazed once again. Even though "In Verses" hasn't got the explosiveness of some of the earlier albums, there is no escaping the fact that what is on offer here is bloody impressive. Which is something that the fans always hope for, but never can take for granted. It is therefore a very pleasant surprise that "In Verses" finally is ready and available, but also that it is of such a high quality. KARNIVOOL has returned after a long hiatus, and as a fan I am glad that they are back where they belong.
