Kaos Vortex - Seeds Of Decay album cover

When a Metal fan hears an album, of course he (or she) can be astonished by the music as a whole idea, but in some moment, the Metallian will see a musical instrument that can be the main power of the band. And no, it is not a sin to be side by side in a band with some musician that is making something very good. This is a feature that can put the music work. And I must say that on the case of the German Death Metal quintet KAOS VORTEX, the guitars are the better feature of their work, as we can hear on their first album, "Seeds Of Decay".

No, the vocals, bass guitar and drums are really good, but when the guitars execute some excellent riffs and good solos, you see that all in their music turns in function of them. And this is the main feature that turn their work different from many bands.

Yes, they play a very good way into Death Metal that is between the traditional from Swedish scene with some very good melodies, but without leaving the brutality aside, due the very good guttural voices. And the rhythmic session is really very good in technical terms, giving the necessary heavy basis for the band. But do not be confused, because their music works as an unit.

The sound quality is OK. Yes, it's heavy and thunderous as their music needs, but it is too clear, so the understanding of what the quintet is playing is guaranteed, so hold your heads to your necks.

Evading great speed on their songs, they become good the more you hear the album. Their best moments: the perfect mix between weight, aggressiveness and technique seen on "Tomb Of The Undying" (that presents excellent riffs), the catching and thunderous "Terrorizer" (with a slow paced tempo on the beginning, and them a mid speed is presented, where we all can hear a great work done on bass and drums. And again, the riffs are very good), the nightmare of jigsaw riffs called "When Paranoia Awakens" (very good vocals indeed), and the excellent "Dehumanized" (where their more technical and hooking side is evident).

A very first album, but I believe they can do better than this. But by now, is very good.
