JT Ripper - Gathering Of The Insane album cover

Formed in 2010, hailing from the wondrous land of Germany comes JT RIPPER. Their newest album which is their second full length release is called "Gathering of the Insane". From what I have gathered by just looking at the album cover and the song titles, this album must be about serial killers. So without stalling anymore let's get started and see what this album is all about!

Up first we have the song "Cvlt" and it takes a little bit to actually get going. Around the one minute and forty second mark it kicks in and hits you with some pretty sick shredding. It kinda reminds me if DEATH, SLAYER and MORBID ANGEL had a bastard son that no one knew about. The Guitar work is actually really good so my hats off to Daniel Brandenburg for that! The second song is entitled "Chaos" and this song is really sick. The Guitars and Drums played by Chris Borner meld really well together.

"Child's Play" is the third installment on the album and it was pretty good although it lacked something that I can't put my finger on. The song "Feast" was a ton of fun and I really thought that Steven Fischer's vocals really went well with this song. It's a pretty short song but very energetic. The song "Shadows" starts off a tad bit darker than the previous songs. My only problem with this band so far is that it sounds like they copied and pasted the same song over and over. It isn't bad by any means, but it needs some diversity.

"Nightstalker" is the next one up and it's more of the same. This band isn't bad at all but like I said it lacks diversity. I think with maybe an outsider joining the band they could switch it up a bit. I really don't want to drag them through the mud at all because they are pretty good but I just can't get into the music. Maybe if they had more melody which is used in quite a bit of heavy metal these days even in Death Metal, they would peak my interest more. I guarantee there are a huge amount of people who would love this album.
