Formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, California, JONES STREET are a hard rock five piece who are no strangers to the limelight. Since releasing their first studio album "Dancin' With The Devil" back in 1995, JONES STREET are now back again with a vengeance! Their latest album "Out Of The Gutter" is a set of 10 promising tracks, released on June 3^rd, 2022, via Eonian Records.

The first track on the record is "Dancin' With The Devil", which starts off well with an energetic guitar riff very similar to that of AIRBOURNE. However, as Shawn Crosby's glam rock vocals kick in, it lowers the tone just a little. Saying that, the chorus isn't bad by a long shot, just not great. "Tell Me Why" is up next, which takes us down more of a country rock road. It is a pleasant change to hear a band change up their style so early on in a record, and I highly applaud JONES STREET for doing so. "What Comes Around" begins on a similar note, yet the chorus is a lot more memorable this time. Definitely not their worst song to date! "Thieves Of Love" contains a highly infectious riff from the get-go, which is sure to get even their newest fan bopping along! As the song goes on, it develops into an anthemic ballad, which is truly fantastic. "Take Your Love" amps up the ante once more, with another high-energy track - definitely sure to get you moving. JONES STREET are clearly exceptional at creating these chant style chorus hooks, which you can imagine being sung back to them by their fans at large stadiums in years to come!

"Razor To My Wrist" unfortunately takes us back to their unmemorable material from earlier on in the release. This song sounds the same from start to finish, with not much there to take from it. "When It All Comes Down" has a similar feel to it - there just isn't much substance to the track. "We Won't Be Forgotten" has a memorable guitar riff from the get-go, however just like the majority of songs on this album; it gets lost in the crowd. "Fuck Authority" has almost a punk rock like feel to it, which is a complete contract to previous songs. It contains a very infectious riff in the midst of the track, adding more memorability than a lot of the songs combined. The last song on the album is "On The Edge", which unsurprisingly was pretty disappointing for a final track. Even though the riffs are decent throughout, the song is just very forgettable, to say the least.

Overall, I think that "Out Of The Gutter" is a very average hard rock album. I assumed that JONES STREET would have produced a better body of work, considering they have been a band for over 30 years. A lot of the tracks just sound identical to one another and completely unoriginal. Saying this, "Thieves Of Love" and "Fuck Authority" are most definitely the sure highlights of this record and are worth a listen.
