Apartheid Redux
JesusWept
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: JESUSWEPT; signed via Redefining Darkness Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Death Metal/Hardcore, on their re-released EP originally entitled: "Crushing Aparthied", now re-entitled: "Aparthied Redux" (released August 21st, 2020).
Since formation in 2017; the quartet in question have only an EP entitled: "Crushing Aparthied" (originally released in August 11th, 2017), and a demo entitled: "Comfortably Dumb" (released March 2nd, 2019). 7 tracks ranging at around 20:16; JESUSWEPT arrange an intricately designed formula of some heavy-hitting Death Metal/Hardcore amalgamations.
Opening up with the boisterously bouncy adrenaline of the belting bruiser entitled: "Buried Face Down"; JESUSWEPT compile an intense fabrication of some blistering, amplified hooks that thunder with monstrously meaty manifestations & meticulous rhythms that rivet with punchy tightness while execution a groovy foundation in a barraged frenzy that trialblazes with skyrocketing pandemonium while remaining ruthlessly savage. The lineup is barren; I could find only two members sadly, but everyone performs with grinding hostility and a borderline injection of some heated fretwork finesse that primitively jump with rawly rough substance while oscilliating this organic ritual of rapidly swift nimbleness that slams with vibrantly potent shreds while just killing it with sulphurously venomous laceration.
Consisting of Nathan Barnes on bass; (one of the only members I could find) a frolicking animal who rumbles with reverberating relentlessness, strumming with weighty flickers and a volatile slab of solid viscerality. Morphing into a hybrid dimension of some thumpy audibility, infectiously piledriving with rompy stability. While "Drowning In Holy Water" is a breif interlude at .42s, embellishing on NAPALM DEATH-esque hardiness while thrashing with monolithic speed, salubrious stampeding rampages & a gnarly attribute chiselling a distilling implementation of some hardened haste that will make you want to break chairs over other chairs in no time!
"Hammering The Nails" culls heads into a bludgeoning element that soars with distorted chugs, chaotic gallops and battering drumming that rambunctiously pummel with sonically seamless rebellion. Striking with malicious pounds, profusely sinister robustness & concretely gritty craftsmanship madness that will rattle your brains as it delivers a healthy dose of some melodiously pleasing mayhem that will boost an exciting calamity of triggering maelstrom remedies to your soul. The vocals showcase raspy throatiness with deep, guttural growls and a droning but satanic posession of some thick snarls that bark into a roaring surge that shout with demonic blasphemy.
"Jesus In Chains (Father In Hell)" slows the tempo down into a doomy fabrication; armed to the brim as it assembles an arsenal of ominous agility and stompy, steely precision that tempestuously storms with razor-sharp slams that provide an enriching embellishment of some experimental deadliness with this dexterously diligent dynamic but flamboyant forge that's just addictively crushing all round. The vocals continue an assimilating assault on shrieking malevolence, mellifluously shouting with screaming euphony and blood-curdling nastiness.
"Comfortably Dumb" introduces Andy Nelson on vocals with this fierce duet of croaky gruffness, the songwriting musicianship revels with zestful density and an integral quake of quintessential virtuosity with unique versatile vehemence. Punishing eardrums in a fluidly polished persistency of persevering impactfulness, combustible blast beats and strifing technicalites that progresses with catchy delights and heavy intrigue. "Fucked On The Cross" contaminates this virulent sludge of filthy bombast with just that, grunty but explosive strums spellbinds you with grungy instrumentation & vicious slime...oozing out this profane sacriledge of otherworldly & unholy lamentation of sinful retribution.
Overall concluding "Apartheid Redux" with the finale epic cover from Heavy Metal tyrants: W.A.S.P. with their version of "Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)" which is a brilliant rendition of the original using their own tasteful style; I am compelled to say that JESUSWEPT excellently offerered this replayable mastery of Death Metal/Hardcore value that while short of 20 minutes long, it marvellously revolves through this neat yet mesmerising amalgamation of both sub-genres superbly well...and it captivates you to press start over & over again. A grand discovery that will start your maniacal day off right! Worthy of a listen or 10! Have at it.
