Invincible Force - Decomposed Sacramentum album cover

INVINCIBLE FORCE are a Blackened Thrash Metal band from Santiago de Chile that have just released "Decomposed Sacramentum", on 22nd October 2020, follow-up to their 2015's full-length "Satan Rebellion Metal". It might seem short at just 27 minutes over nine songs, but this album makes the most of its self-imposed time constraints.

"Doomed By The Vision" opens up with dense ambient sounds and feedback before descending into a barricade of Blackened Thrash riffing. Skullfukk's vocals are vicious but are still discernible enough not to get lost in the mix. A potent opener that catches your ear with its memorable riff-building. "Perpetual Black Mass" hits even harder, its technically impressive drumming is a highlight throughout the whole record, quite reminiscent of MORBID ANGEL. Both tracks lay down the palette the band explores over the next 21 minutes.

On "Decomposed Sacramentum" INVINCIBLE FORCE follows a formula of three-minute long tracks filled with thrashy riffing, pounding rhythms and a slightly punkish attitude beneath the brimming Black Metal and slight Death Metal elements of their sound. The formula works as a charm as the band's chemistry is on full display. This quartet understands itself perfectly and know exactly how to play to each member's strengths.

Even though the tracks do not sound extremely different between them, and the tempo is usually on the breakneck end of things, the album is definitely free of filler. One of the best aspects of it being a short record is avoiding unnecessary meandering or having way too many songs for its own good. Bands with a somewhat limited sound palette are wise to avoid overstaying their welcome. The restrain is definitely appreciated and commendable.

There are some classic Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and Thrash motifs in here, such as the slight MOTÖRHEAD influences on "The Covenant", the BLACK SABBATH-inspired, Doom-y passages of the title track or the Hammett affectations on the solos of "Doomed By The Vision" and "The Shadow Over Canaan" for instance.

Overall, "Decomposed Sacramentum" is a solid record that shows promise for INVINCIBLE FORCE. A fun yet dark record, filled with brimming brutal bangers. Ideal for when you just want a short but raw record to headbang to. Or at least tap your feet and nod along.
