Of a sensation foul and decrepit, the stigma of Death Metal rouses some things familiar, those thoughts macabre and cerebral; the purpose, then, is to lend the imagination these feelings of woe and anguish through the machinations off visceral music, a sort of vicarious musing. INSTIGATE is one such entity by volition expressing their fondness of the deranged and dilapidated through their breakout EP entitled, "Echoes Of A Dying World."

The Extended Play starts with the song, "Obliteration," a heavy track which pulls no punches and favors no particular audience, the whole of the song is an unabridged and raw expression of the band; the staccato post-verse pulses in insidious fervor bridging together the tension of the verse and intensity of the chorus. "Embrace The End" follows the intricacies of its predecessor continuing the juxtaposition of verse and chorus though ends in silence before the start of the next track. "Atonement" commences with the drowning of a singular chord, the fading echo of a singular knell before the song truly starts - the opening simultaneously reminds me equal part of "The Blackest Night" by HOLY GRAIL and "Rainbow In The Dark" by DIO; comprised of rhythmic abandon and pounding drums the song delivers fevered, deranged, and insidious tones.

The compilation of music is a great focus for the band as it allows the listener an understanding far greater than simply musical ability and penchant, as it supplies its audience with the band's own mission statement; whilst the exacting meaning is an item left to interpretation one can truly feel the torrent of rage and aggression that went into each track. The guitars crisp, concise, and nowhere near oversaturated tell the story of hatred and desperation; the bass lays down the foundation without contest, providing a heavy structure for the rest of the band to build off of; the drums are voluminous and dire capturing center attention as well as providing panned accents of cymbals which is something often never done in any form of music; the vocals are destitute, reaching, and gripping commanding the listener's attention and cutting through each instrument with ease.

"Echoes Of A Dying World" is far from a complete album, but offers the taste of something far greater to come. Whilst the EP lacks diversity it makes up for such in intensity beguiling the listener into headbanging all the while; as the tracks focus far more on the heavier aspects of Death Metal this EP won't appeal to someone hoping for a great range, but what it does offer is pure raw energy, and who doesn't like that?
