Innerwish - Innerwish album cover

After a long time showing tradition in extreme Metal styles with bands like ROTTING CHRIST, NIGHTFALL, VARATHRON, NECROMANTIA, SUICIDAL ANGELS and many more, Greece is starting to show the world that the country has many excellent bands from eMlodic Metal styles. The sextet INNERWISH is here to prove that they are ready for great trials. Their new album, "Innerwish," is a good sample of Melodic Metal.

Mixing influences from modern traditional Heavy Metal with some influences from earlier Hard Rock (from bands as DEEP PURPLE, WHITESNAKE an RAINBOW), they do very good work, using that modern and aggressive outfit that hooks us, associated with striking and charming melodies, along with some virtuous guitar solos. The final result is a musical work that is heavy and intense, but with very good chorus and very good musical arrangements. Yes, they are pretty good!

Fotis Benardo and Thimios Krikos were the album's producers, and they did very good work, having the hands of Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd in on the mixing, and Peter In de Betou on the mastering. The final result is a sound quality the sounds heavy and clean in both ways, allowing the fans to understand what the band is playing and what they have to say with their music. The instrumental tunes were also wisely chosen, let me tell you.The artwork for the cover is a fine work of Felipe Machado Franco, who made a very good piece of art, but without being something complicated to understand. When "Innerwish" begins to play, well, it's better for you to be seated. The band's music is really excellent, and astonishing in some moments.

Their finest moments: The fine and heavy guitar arrangements that are presented on "Roll the Dice," along with great chorus and backing vocals; the astonishing solos of "Broken," along with fine bass guitar and drums technical rhythmic work; the heavy and fantastic oriental tempos used on "Modern Babylon," where some keyboards arrangements are really elegant; the excellent "Machines of Fear" that has a hard and heavy scent like from those excellent bands from NWOBHM (and be prepared for a fine exhibition from the vocals); the grandiose keyboards parts shown on "Rain of a Thousand Years", a songs with a tasteful Epic/Power Metal atmosphere, with very good work from the bass guitar and drums once more (and what a wonderful chorus); on the very good "Sins of the Past," where again the same old and good hard and heavy feeling of the past is presented, showing a fine work in terms of vocal arrangements; the hooking and savage "Zero Ground," and the astonishing and excellent "Tame the Seven Seas," where some fine vocals and keyboards contrasts can be heard. These guys really did a fine album, and even though it lasts more than one hour, it doesn't bore our ears. It's just the opposite: it can be heard again and again endless times. Love it or love it, there's no choice!
