Ichor - Depths album cover

ICHOR is a band that I met at their show in Tel Aviv's Deathfest, for my opinion they were one of the best in the festival. After the festival, I did a little homework about the band and it turned out that they got some more great songs. ICHOR they got 2 great albums that one of them including my favorite song of ICHOR that called "The Deepest Blue Is Black". The first time that I heard that song I felt my head starting to moving up & down without my control.

Those who do not know, ICHOR is alive and kicking since 2008 and during these years they created a loyal and strong fan base. They are doing some kind of a mix between two different genres -Deathcore & Death metal..Four years since the last album came out, they are promoting their new album, the third number, "Depths".
The album is opening with "Deep Rising" that is a dramatic intro that leads us to "Apophis". The song has some nice parts, he is repeating himself over and over and sounds a little boring in some parts.
"Ra´iroa" is much better song than the previous one, he is faster and much less repeating himself. Eric (the band vocalist) is amazing growler, he can't stop scream for one second and all over the album he cant stop surprising me with his strong's and fast's growls.

"While Giants Sleep" is my favorite song in the album and I really don't understand why the band didn't started the album with him but I will be quiet about it. So, why is this song much better than the other songs? Well this song is less fast and much cleverer, this song got less double bass and much much more anger. In the bottom line, this song is genius song in the album. "The Beasts Approach" also a great song that can be a hit in live shows.
"The Heretic King" got some bad parts, but because of the great (but very short) guitar solo and the some amazing parts, I can say that its very good song. "Leviathan" is much more old school, but the band gets lost in the middle of the song and me also.

The problem in the album is that there are some parts that repeat themselves, but what helps him is that these parts are excellent. Although, that in some part in the album it's getting exhausting. "Deny Your God" is a good example, its great song but its also a thing that the band already did in another great songs in this album. Maybe if those songs weren't in the same album it was much better, but if it's about the same album, so the album need to continue to somewhere and not to do the same thing over and over again. And like ICHOR heard my prayers, they are coming to "Desire Of The Depth". The song is much more melodic and dramatic and the band going in this song to a different direction. Personally, I really loved this song, he's giving different atmosphere and he is definitely one of the best songs in the album.

After that song, the band returns to her fast blastbeats in "Cthulus Sons",Although he also returns to what it was in previous songs is still a great song. "Hadal Sirens" starts just the way I like, slow part and then fast & unstoppable part. It's a little bit too long song, but it's still good song. The band wanted to do the album very big this time. They wanted to create their best album, we can see it also in the rich production that the band took. The band wanted to do more sophisticated things. but sometimes the most sophisticated things is not the faster riffs, and more the smartest that the song sounds, as the band did in their epic 2010's "Benthic Horizon". The band still remains good but they could do a better album.
