Rising British Nu-Metalcore band I AM PARIAH will release their new EP "Charm Before the Storm" on the 27th of November, 2020. Laser tight and razor sharp, the Stoke On Trent Metal experimentalists take things to the next level with this cathartic sonic experience following the release of 2018's successful "Procreate//Annihilate" EP. The new EP contains three tracks.

"Kill the Modern World" opens the album. The main riff is full and heavy, and the lead guitars build a nice opening melody. Once the vocals hit, you know you are listening to Nu-Metal. Nut the difference here between I AM PARIAH and other bands in the genre is their commitment to melody. It flows freely throughout the song, mostly in the lead guitars, but also in the vocals. That lead guitar solo brings out some sounds that I don't think I have ever heard before...a sort of "scratching" if you had a record player.

"Sicko" opens with heavy, pulsing bass lines, and a slower groove. The guitars create a full sound, and the vocals here are harsh. This is where their "core" elements are more live. The rapping in the vocal cadence is what comes from the "Nu" side of the genre. The band plays with an energy and confidence that you can hear. "Suck it Up" closes the three-track EP. It opens with clean vocals that give way to more snarly vocals that eventually go all harsh. They build a bit of melody in the chorus, but it could be better with some backing vocals thrown in.

Overall, this was a solid EP from a band that clearly plays with confidence in their craft. Nu-Metal will always be a polarizing genre for some of us, but give this album your time, because it has three well-written songs and the promise that they can hone their craft for a future full-length release. It's a solid second attempt at the Nu/Core mashup genre.
