Cybergenesis
HyperioN

HYPERION was formed in 2015 in Bologna, Italy, and when they started their main influences were JUDAS PRIEST, QUEENSRŸCHE and METAL CHURCH. So, a combination of Progressive Metal with Power Metal and Heavy Metal was what the recipe was asking for. So, that's what they decided to do. It resulted in a debut album in 2017 ("Dangerous Days") and a second album ("Into The Maelstrom") in 2020. Well, I haven't heard those two albums, so HYPERION is a brand new band for me. Now it is time for the third instalment of their musical abilities and the result is "Cybergenesis", a 39:18 minute avalanche of very energetic, very positive sounding Metal. Because that is exactly what you are getting.
You will not be able to unhear the references to especially METAL CHURCH, because not only musically, but also in atmosphere have HYPERION adopted their kind of sound and attitude. But, as they wished, they have expanded into more Progressive territory and sometimes even more down to earth straight forward Heavy Metal. As an extra layer they have made the guitar solos more like some of the shredders would execute them. It gives those musicians an extra window in which they can shine, and they never hesitate to take that opportunity. I have to say that due to the extensive mix of musical influences I like what I hear. I'm not going to tell you that I am hearing another supergroup or the next big thing, but I do think that there can be a very large contingency of Metalheads that can and will like what they hear on "Cybergenesis".
Like I mentioned, HYPERION isn't the next band to take over the world, but they are a band that has the ability to please and entertain a lot of (mostly) old fashioned Metal fans with the music they have provided us with on "Cybergenesis". And because they have been able to provide the record with a very clear, transparent, but above all contemporary sound, a lot of the young Metal afficionados might be quite willing to not only give this a go, but also their sign of approval. The thing is, for me this is the ideal album to listen to when I am riding my bicycle in and around our area. Or when I'm walking our two dogs. It simply is a very pleasant Metal album, that I can classify as good.
