Heedless Elegance - Libra album cover

Metalcore is a genre that experienced a commercial growth between 2000 and 2006, due the young and energetic approach on those days, including the mix of brutal and extreme parts with melodic ones. But time passed by and the genre became eroded, and only the pioneers still have commercial praise. To younger bands it is hard to begin in such a genre, but there are those with courage to face such hard work. And the Hungarian quintet HEEDLESS ELEGANCE has such feature, as their second album, "Libra", shows.

Their musical work is characterized by the use of extreme elements of the genre (besides there are punctual melodic moments), and mixing them with abrasive influences from Groove Metal and modern Hardcore (in the vein of HATEBREED). Of course, the quintet still needs to mature a bit more, but their musical efforts created an album that is really heavy, abrasive and aggressive, and can reach the hearts of many extreme Metal fans as well. The sonority of "Libra" is focused on an abrasive outfit with use of greasy instrumental tunes. But as well, the sound quality is defined and clean to the point that any dummy listener can understand what the quintet is expressing on their songs. It's very good, indeed.

The brutal and technically simply approach used on "Failure" (the contrasts between shrieks and grunts are very good), "Split" with its melodic moments in the middle of aggressiveness (and fine work on bass guitar and drums on the rhythms), the modern Industrial influences on "The Blaze of Glory" (sharp guitars, indeed), and the experimental moments of "Grace" and "There's Just No Way to Make it, I Tried but I Failed in The Life of Love and Hate" (this last one is really amazing, a deep, melodic and Progressive approach is heard, and is the most different song of all the album) are the best ones for a first time on their musical work.

As mentioned above, HEEDLESS ELEGANCE still can mature a bit more, but "Libra" shows that a promising name in Metalcore is arising in Hungary.
