Beyond What Eyes Can See

Haxprocess

A very good Technical Death/Thrash Metal release of a promising band.
July 24, 2025

The mixing of the aggressiveness of Death Metal with Progressive Metal/Rock technical approach generated what some calls as Progressive Death Metal, being one of its most outstanding names EDGE OF SANITY. But more bands appeared on the genre, and some are really trying to break limits and try something different, as the North American act HAXPROCESS, as heard on “Beyond What Eyes Can See”. The sonority of the songs is something that is on a classic Death Metal trend (especially when talking about USA Death Metal releases), with those nasty and brutal instrumental tunes usual for the 90s bands.

But on the other hand, it tries to make things understandable to the fans, so one can have the best of both words (besides things could be a bit better). The band try a mix: mainly, it’s a form of Old School Death/Thrash Metal from the 90s mixed with Progressive Rock elements and Jazz-influenced technical instrumentations. The songs have long time lengths, allowing the quartet to technical exhibitions and changes of ambiences - to Death Metal-orientated parts to Jazz/Progressive moments. It’s musically rich, but it seems that the band still has some potential to be turned into music. It’s very good, but they seem to be far better.

For those addicted fans of Progressive Death Metal, “Behind What Eyes Can See” depicts a band that is still maturing their musical work, but the combination of death growls with aggressive and technical instrumental parts shown on “Where Even Stars Die”, “The Confines of the Flesh”, “Thy Inner Demon Seed” and “Sepulchral Void” is really very good, with shifts that are surprising for the ones who are hearing to this release. For now, HAXPROCESS is a band with tons of potential to be used in the future; but “Behind What Eyes Can See” is a fine release that deserves to be heard carefully.
