If you live in Atlanta, Georgia you'll be getting a wake up call from Hard Rock band GUNPOWDER GRAY. Their new "Self Titled EP" is available to stream via BandCamp and I have got to say, it's great to see good old Classic Rock playing on our systems again.
The first track "Gunpowder Grey" was a great way to kick off the album in a Classic Rock style, the initially slick guitar riffs and solos remind you of Classic/Blues Rock legends such as ZZ TOP. The EP contains genuinely brilliant rock songs, such as "Under The Gun" and "Dancing With Death", that you can enjoy in your own way; whether it's dancing, bobbing your head or just listening. GUNPOWDER GRAY'S sound reminds me of Classic Rock bands such as LYNARD SKYNARD and those modern bands who are bringing it back, Irish rockers THE ANSWER come to mind.
The best song on the EP for me personally was the song "Outta Sight"; I simply loved everything about this track from the propelling introduction to the memorable chorus "Outta Sight" has all the crucial components for that perfect Rock song.
Now I often liken new and upcoming bands to plants; where they start off as a bud or a seed then they grow and develop into something spectacular with the right care and attention. GUNPOWDER GRAY certainly produced a brilliant EP and I think their sound will continue to grow into something much bigger over the next years of their career. This EP is an ideal first stepping-stone up that music ladder.
