“Gods Of Tomorrow” is the debut album by Melodic Metal band GODS OF TOMORROW. But it wasn’t the first sign of life from band leader Konstantinos Markou. That actually was “World On Fire”, which was released in 2022, and it was brought under the name of ELECTRIFIED. When that really took off, he decided to keep some people, add some new faces, and realise a fresh start. That has become GODS OF TOMORROW and I can say that I have been happy about having been able to review this one. Because if “Gods Of Tomorrow” does one thing, it is sound fresh. You can hear and feel the excitement and anticipation that is radiating off all the musicians in the band.

What does help when you play Melodic Metal is having a good singer, and in that respect GODS OF TOMORROW doesn’t need to think back or reconsider, as Felipe Del Valle has a very pleasant voice that is capable of enhancing just those emotions that the music is asking for. As for the people behind him, they also know how to play. I need to mention the guitar players, as they have a good interaction going, but are also both very good at making the solos sound just right, with the proper amount of intensity or melody, whatever the song requires. As for the drums and bass, they do a cracking job as well, filling the sound in as they feel fit. And what they do is making the band sound just that more genuine on “Gods Of Tomorrow”, or, if you want, serious.

The sound is full and pleasant, the riffing has a very positive ring to it, and the band sounds like a cohesive unit. So far, so good. As for the songs themselves, they are quite good. Well written with good executions should make me very happy. It does, but not to the extent I was expecting. I had to listen some more to find out why, and I have deduced that for me it is only caused by the fact that I have heard it all before. Yes, I know, it is hard to invent something new, and it is also okay to use as many cliches as you like, but I am someone who also wants to hear some new elements. I feel that this is where “Gods Of Tomorrow” is simply put a good album. Nothing more, nothing less. If GODS OF TOMORROW start throwing in their own elements in the future, that would make me happy.
