Giant - III album cover

After almost ten years after their last release, Time To Burn (1992), Giant released their  comeback album III. The material of this album isn't that new, since the tracks are mostly written in the past and left out of their previous two releases for several reasons. So someone knowing that would expect a mediocre album. Wrong!!! This is a first-class release!
The CD starts with a guitar solo, yeah a guitar solo, entitled Combustion, and this doesn't give the slightest hint of the explosion that comes afterwards, entitled You Will Be Mine! An amazingly fast song, full of rhythm, energy, thundering drums, wailing guitars. A song that can only compared with the I'm A Believer from their debut Last Of The Runaways (1989). Well with a rhythm section like this one (David Lyndon Huff and Mike Brignardello) the explosions can only have this kind of impact! The next tune, Over You, sound like the definition of AOR, sensual rhythm, harmony backing vocals and some keyboards around the chorus.
Don't Leave Me In Love is the lead single of this comeback album. This sensational ballad with the amazing vocal lines, was co-written by Mark Spiro. Love Can't Help You Now is maybe the weakest song of the album, just a mid-tempo rock track but with some kick-ass vocals, but where Dann Huff's vocals aren't amazing? The Sky Is The Limit and Oh Yeah are almost as good as the You Will Be Mine, but surely they are both 100% fun. It's Not The End Of The World is the second ballad of the album, which I could do without. Luckily, the third ballad of the album, Can't Let Go, erases the cheesy taste of the previous one. Here we have the best moody, melodic, full of spirit, honey dripping, heart aching ballad of the decade!!! In the end, the CD has a cover of Robert Palmer's hit Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor) played with tones of energy.
Giant's III is one of the best releases of the year. Period.
