All Our Sins
Gate Doors
People can have the wrong idea that a Metal genre can't evolve, that they can't be presented in a modern way, and that's not the truth. Hard Rock is one of the oldest forms of making Metal, it was born in the latest years of the 60's, but there are younger ways of playing it, without being something blasphemous. The Spanish quartet GATE DOORS proves these words with "All Our Sins", the band's latest album.
It's melodic and accessible, but strong and melodic in a way that's impossible to resist, especially for younger generations. But don't get the wrong idea: these for dudes know how to play heavy in many moments (including the use of grunts, as can be heard on "Parabellvm"), but always with a modern and defined way. Strong choruses, melodically accessible and inspired in terms of musical arrangements, they're really pretty good. Yes, they're really a very good band to hear.
The production of "All Our Sins" was done carefully. All was conceived to be clean and defined in a way that the accessible side of their musical work could be evident, with very good instrumental tunes. But to keep the modern aspect of their music, some ambiences that reminds Modern Metal/Rock genres is presented as well. It's a very good work, indeed.
The accessible melodic energy of "I'm Fine" (very good vocals, indeed), the abrasive weight of "Parabellvm" (very good work on the guitars, with clean parts contrasting with distorted ones), "All Our Sins" (the use of Rap parts was a wise choice, and the bass guitar and drums are playing in a heavy and solid form), the accessible appeal of "Above" and "Flesh and Bone" (this one bears some Groove Rock touches), "S.B.D." (that shows a melodic weight and some good guitar arrangements), and "Hate Me" are samples of a very good and young musical work. But it's not immature.
GATE DOORS is that kind of band that must be heard carefully. And "All Our Sins" is one album to be heard while enjoying a very good time.
