GAMA BOMB belong, in terms of Media categorization, into the wide group of bands responsible for the commercial revival of Thrash Metal music the last years. New generations need new heroes honoring old classic styles and idols (that are out of business or try to play like the bands they've influenced at times, with hilarious results...) and GAMA BOMB seems to do a good job performing their speedy Thrash Metal, no question 'bout that. "Tales From The Grave In Space" - produced by Scott Atkins (IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION, BEHEMOTH, CRADLE OF FILTH) and featuring artwork by Jeff Jordan (THE MARS VOLTA) - has a powerful clear sound and, to our delight, GAMA BOMB know how to play and do not experiment on our ears. OVERKILL, AGENT STEEL, TANKARD, SLAYER, MEGADETH, ANNIHILATOR, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, WHIPLASH and EXODUS are names you'll bring to mind; no need to say more?

In regards to their previous work, "Citizen Brain" (2007), the UK band seems to have developed a more in-your-face attitude and I do not know if this a conscious result or an external condition in order to have the new album out. In any case, a dozen of tunes for 30 minutes is a nice treat and you'll surely have a good time banging to the album's songlist; a set of fast tunes owing a lot to the American scene mainly but with a fair portion of European non-evil Thrash Metal too. The vocals are shriekin' but remain within the Thrash Metal standards but - in a set of really skilled musicians - I'd place Paul Caffrey's drumming on top; a frenzied skinsman with balls guiding the band non-pace. The leads are quite interesting, too, and truth is GAMA BOMB develop their writing in a balanced way applicable to the wants of both old-school Speed Metal thrashers and more early 90s Crossover maniacal prowlers. Even punk twats will twist to the odor of "Slam Anthem", "Three Witches" and "We Respect You" (random samples in a total of 12 strong cuts).

Having to judge on penned reviews, it would need an extra couple of saying to convince you on "Tales From The Grave In Space"'s value prior to spending money; now that this new album is available for free download, get to listen on your own and decide. And then you have no "I say I need to listen to it prior to buying - because that's the benefit of stealing/downloading music from the Net - and then even if I like the CD I won't bother spending money on a normal copy - for noone will ever know I'm a metalhead in words - and then I'll only shout for the decline of my beloved(?) music" excuse...

P.S.: Yes, the lyrics can be accused of being quite naive. So what? Go get a poems collection instead, if your IQ is insulted.
