GALICIA is a Black/Death Metal band formed recently in the United States. Following two EP releases, they now present their debut full-length album titled "Precipice," which has six songs. "Solidifying an Epoch Under the Vapor Canopy" is the first. The music is very chaotic, the production is mediocre, and the variation from gutturals to screams marks the vocals. "Refract the Nonsubmerged" sounds a lot more like actual music, at least in the beginning. From there however it is a combination of indiscernible gutturals and screams, with another chaotic landscape for the music itself.

The next two songs are much shorter. "The Forwarding" is the first, and begins with a high-pitched scream, followed by more guttural vocals and musical chaos. "Despondent Deity" is the second. It features nearly the same sound as other songs on the album. At this point, it becomes hard to find other adjectives to describe their sound. "Becoming Entropy" is another loosely structured song with more chaotic tendencies. You can hear a few bass notes here and there but they are pretty hard to find. "No Phoenix Will Rise" closes the album, with more of those glass-shattering screams, and nearly the same sound as the other songs on the album.

They aren't winning any points for originality, nor much in the way of musicianship. If there is a structure here, it is deeply hidden. In fact, it might have been preferred if they just ran the six songs together into one long song, because they are that indistinguishable. There is very little to champion.
