Thy Kingdom Gone
Flowing Tears

To tell you the truth, even before pushing the play button in my CD player, I was a bit prejudiced against this album, even though I never heard this band before. But, was I right or wrong?
Their bio is quite rich, so I will just make a notice to the most important moments of the band. Until nowadays, they have released five albums between 1996-2004. But then fate hit the band, when on October 20th 2004 two founding members of FLOWING TEARS, Bjorn Lorson and Christian Zimmer, tragically died in a car accident. Some years have passed and in 2007 the band - with a new lineup - stared writing material for their sixth album, Thy Kingdom Gone.
The band' new beginning is on the right path. Their atmospheric Metal (gothic Metal for those who like that stupid label since you can't baptize every band with female vocals a gothic Metal one) have nice melodies and the atmosphere of the whole album is darker than the usual. And a reason for that is the voice of Helen. It's not the typical female vocals that you will listen, like in NIGHTWISH orLEAVES EYES, since her voice is low and expressive. And that's a positive thing. As for the music, well it's not far from the cliches of that kind of music but they have some nice ideas like in Miss Fortune, Rain Of A Thousand Years and the catchy Orchidfire.
Produced by Waldemar Sorychta, having Seth Siro Anton for the arwork of the album and guest appearance from Vorph (SAMAEL) and hard work, this new beginning of FLOWING TEARS with this concept album, is going to be a good one. But I'm holding a small basket. Let's just hope that they will continue working at the same pace.
