Embers Gathering

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA in 2017; Tech-Death Metallers, FLESHBORE proudly bring us their debut album, "Embers Gathering". Set to be released on August 13, 2021 via Innerstrength Records, this album has a way of hitting nice and hard on my stereo. I have a very nice stereo in my car, and I can always judge an albums brutality by how many horrified looks I get from people I pull up next to at an intersection. Long live metal!!!!! I must say this album may well be one of my new favorites. From beginning to end the beat is solid, well played, and very loud. I always end up enjoying the albums I review, but once in a while I get sent an album that stands out and ends up as part of my daily playlist. This is such an album!
"Momentum" - This intro has a deceptively Tech-Melodic sound at first, lulling you into believing this album might be soft. But the softness is a lie!! Dark, heavy, scathing vocals meet dual guitars and Tech-Death undertones. Blast beats on drum intensify the feeling. This entire album plays so well, in my humble opinion. "Careless Preacher" - I am a big fan of these vocals. They are rich and have a lot of depth to them. Yet manage to carry those dark overtures Death Metal brings us. I believe the vocals are the powerhouse in this album. Yet, I would be doing disservice to the rest of the players in this band if I didn't also say, each player might be my favorite part.
"Cynicism" - The little jaunty tune on the guitar right at the middle is epic, like a taste of a folky tune... but just for a couple seconds. FLESHBORE has a wonderful way of mashing up a lot of varied sounds, yet representing Death Metal throughout. Quite a talent, truly. I think all the different styles tend to keep it interesting here, not stagnate. "Embers Gathering" - Fast paced vocals set a pace, black tremolo, luscious Death Metal. This, too, is a great song. There isn't a single song on this album that I feel like I could hit "skip" on. It all plays so well.
I admit, the more I listen to "Embers Gathering", the more obsessed with this album I get. Recently I emailed my editor and told him that I had worn myself out a little on my usual style and wanted to add some Death Metal to my list. THIS...albums like this, are what I was after. I could not recommend this album more to anyone out there. FLESHBORE is a very talented band with an epic sound. This is a very rare, if I could give 11/10, I would. An extra point for sucking me right in as a fan! I cannot wait to hear what FLESHBORE comes up with in the future. Rock on my metal friends! Check this album out.
