If you want a fun release of Folk Metal, this one is for you!

Folk Metal gained a wide range of musical possibilities over the past few 10-15 years, because it is being mixed with different influences into (and out) Metal genres, allowing the genre to evolve and renew itself. But one very interesting name is from the German act FEUERSCHWANZ, as heard on their 13th full-length, "Knightclub", a very good and fun release. Simon Michael Schmitt (of SUBWAY TO SALLY) produced and mixed the album, with Jacob Hansen making a great art-finale on the mastering. The sonority has a personal appeal to put in evidence some Neue Deutsche Härte elements on the songs, but making things sound as clear and defined as needed, but allowing the sonority to bear the essential dirty touch that a Metal sonority must have.
What great art of Péter Sallai for the cover. The sextet is a Folk Metal act, with weight and distortion of the genre. But on their music pulses a clear influence of Neue Deutsche Härte, something that understandable if it's considered that they're from Germany - where such musical genre is a massive commercial success and exerts strong influence; and it permeates their inner musical core. But the result is a form of music that sounds melodic and accessible, yet heavy and distorted at the same time, full of heavy parts contrasting with powerful and remarkable choruses. And the most important thing about their music is that it's personal and fun, what fans need.
With the regularity of releasing albums, the formula of the band is far of sounding tired or boring, because their mix of traditional Metal musical instruments with Folk ones, along with the elements of Neue Deutsche Härte makes the experience of hearing to "Knightclub", "Valhalla", "Gangnam Style" (a version of them to PSY's song), "Name der Rose", "Testament", "The Tale of Sam", "Sam the Brave", "Drunken Dragon", "Eisenfaust", "Avalon", "Tanz der Teufel" and "Lords of Fyre" a great and fun time, indeed. Very good choruses, charming melodies and accessible hooks and more can be heard, so what are you expecting to dive into it?
It can't be said if "Knightclub" is the sextet's greatest moment, but one thing is sure: that FEUERSCHWANZ really deserves applause for such a fun and great album!
