Fallen Fucking Angels - Sign Of The Razor album cover

Well, the world is becoming full of clones from those bands from the 80s. But I can say that there are three groups in the middle of this mass of bands: the ones that were born on the 80s and are still active, doing their music in the same vein as before (North American VIKINGS can be a fine example); the ones that just clone all clichés and do nothing new at all, just happy to be a clone and to make plagiarism of the ancients; and the ones like SUICIDAL ANGELS, ENFORCER and Brazilian quartet JACKDEVIL, who take all those influences, but do things on their way, creating something different from what we heard before. And in this group is the Italian quartet of madmen called FALLEN FUCKING ANGELS, a wild stallion in the front, on the fight since 1997, spreading Metal and humor to the world, and they are back with "Sign Of The Razor", their new album.

First of all, we must say that F.F.A. (as they are known as well) plays a melodic and well worked way of Speed Metal, with a clear influence from bands from the NWOBHM and, of course, from MOTORHEAD and RAZOR, but don't be deceived by your ears: there's a very good technique on each instruments, what make their work different from clones. But under these ironic and powerful vocals, excellent guitar riffs and solos, and heavy and good rhythmic kitchen, there is an ironic and very high humored personality, what make their sound very good to hear, and becomes an addiction the more you hear.

The sound quality is raw and dry, in a way that really reminds bands like MOTORHEAD on their works on the 80s, but don't be disturbed: it's clear and you can understand the band's work with no problem. These drunken madmen know what they are doing: music in a very good and energetic way. Their best moments are the powerful "Ready to Explode" (filled with a not so fast tempo, very good riffs, cool guitar solo and good vocals), the ironic and bitter "K.K.K. (Kous Kous Klan)" (mixing fast tempos with some mid ones, with bass guitar very clear and a strong influence of Eddie Clarke on solo), "Horny Housewives" with very good guitars and vocals (the irony is clear, due the hilarious lyrics), the slower blow of "Storm on the World", and the iconic "No So Stupid (To Lose Weight For Love)" (another fine piece of music, with very good drumming and a anthemic statement on lyrics). But their version for RAZOR's "Snake Eyes" is very good as well.

Of course they're not the outstanding new band of the world, but do a very good work. And let the Speed Metal Barbecue begin!
