Terminal
Existentialist

Deathcore is a Metal genre that’s young, so many experiments can be done in it, because its limits aren’t rigidly defined by now. It’s obvious that older Metal fans have difficulties to deal with it due the differences of generations (the older one is, the harder to accept new models, but it’s not a rule, mind you). And to explore a bit more the genre, the English quintet is EXISTENTIALIST is here with a 4-songs EP called “Terminal”. The sonority is really very good, using a brutal and aggressive outfit, but extremely defined to boost the understanding of what’s being played by the fans.
One interesting feature: the tunes used by the band aren’t as modern and ‘greasy’ as usual, what makes things even better. The quartet uses into the mix of Death Metal and Deathcore some very good elements (as the clean melodic melancholic parts heard on “Death Before Death”), expanding possibilities with some keyboards’ parts and orchestral moments (pay attention on the beginning of “Wraithchild”), the preference for shrieks instead of death growls. It’s clear that the quartet isn’t just trying to be another band of the genre, but putting all efforts possible in finding their own way, and they’re really courageous enough to do so!
“Death Before Death” shows Deathcore traits entangled with Death Metal touches, along with the use of keyboards and charming different elements. “Wretchedness ov Existence” is kind of a ‘standard’ Deathcore song, but pay attention to some excellent instrumental arrangements. On “Wraithchild”, they again are using eerie keyboards parts and some orchestral elements to boost things, and even melodic guitar shreds on solos. And finally, “Garden of Bones” an orchestral song based solely on keyboards and orchestral moments with many very good crescendos.
Solid and mature, EXISTENTIALIST shows that the band has guts to create different paths in Deathcore. Pay attention on “Terminal” and check it out!
