An Ethereal Force Beyond

Within itself a fortitude of resolve resonates from the form that is EVIL IN-in formal debates, Absolute Music is a terminology best ascribed to music for the singular purpose of enjoyment contrasted to representative pieces, and An Ethereal Force Beyond aligns itself in the midst of such reveries, as its compositional prowess is strewn across minimalism and progressive lifts.
The two piece opens with the track, "Macabre Deadly Friend," a Death Metal-esque song with a simple groove and a few different a couple different riffs, the simpleness of the arrangements makes it a headbanging piece complete with an insane solo. Second is the track, "Ravager," moves in between a grooving phrase and a headbanging one creating tension throughout the track which in turn never resolves as the outro de-progresses and ends on a guitar slide-the drums in this track remind me heavily, both in tone and writing, of "When The Levee Breaks" by LED ZEPPELIN.
The instrumentation is quite odd in multiple aspects, where each instrument is given its own sonic space these sections are grossly exaggerated to extremes such that each instrument is given a near jarring sound to it. The guitars are almost uncomfortably bright reminding me of pieces where the guitar was plugged straight into the mixer in lieu of traditional amp and mic recording; the bass is oversaturated with fuzz and a dark tone making it difficult to discern any exacting note as well fighting the kick for dominance; the drums as well have a stark oddity to them, with the simplicity in the grooves it's easy to determine a kind of effect put upon them near similar to a tape filter or something else slightly degradative; lastly, the vocals are whimsical and corrosive by design, being kept at a volume just beneath discrete adding more of an accent to the tracks rather than leading each song.
An Ethereal Force Beyond surprised me for how genuine it came off as, being something as whimsical but as well pertinent and solid in performance and writing. The songs build off of straightforward riffs that one can jam out too, but have solos that show the more technical aspect of the creator. The two track piece barely fits in at 7.5 minutes, so the $5 price point might definitely be asking a bit aside from such the EP hopefully foreboding a full LP at some point in the future.
