The Chronicles Of Eunomia Part.2

Eunomia

All together I have to say I enjoyed “The Chronicles Of Eunomia Part.2”

Where I live, in the Netherlands, we have just about the most amazing amusement park of Europe, which is called the Efteling. It is full of rides and such, but everything built and/or already there is always based on a fairy tale of some sort. And of course you get to hear all kinds of music there, all of it rather sweet and dainty. If we hear any kind of Hard Rock or Metal that sounds like that, we just call it Efteling Metal. And that is exactly what EUNOMIA is making, albeit with a bit more aggression in the riffing and guitar solos.

EUNOMIA the band hails from Molde in Norway, and is a very tight group of musicians to listen to. This album, “The Chronicles Of Eunomia Part.2” will showcase that Eunomia is the country they sing about. I guess you could say that it is a concept album, in which the band describes how they are battling much stronger enemies, but only can survive if their King gets off his arse and starts lending a hand. Okay, I admit, that is a bit of a crude way of telling the tale, but that is exactly what it boils down to. And of course, like in any fairy tale, the outcome is a happy one.

Musically these guys have written quite good songs, but to me they are just rehashing things that others have done before. But then again, as I haven’t heard the first endeavour of EUNOMIA, I can’t comment on what will happen next. “The Chronicles Of Eunomia” was released in 2018, so after another five years we have part two. Whether there will be another part to come is not known by me, and I sure couldn’t find out. What I do know is that “The Chronicles Of Eunomia Part.2” is not a bad album at all, but it doesn’t set the world alight for me either. It is just solid where it needs to be, and in all honesty, the guitar solos are what is saving the whole experience for me. They are fresh, fast, melodic, fitting and very entertaining to say the least.

All together I have to say I enjoyed “The Chronicles Of Eunomia Part.2”, but it will not make my year listing for 2023. But I also will not put EUNOMIA down in nay way or form, as this is music that a large portion of the Hard Rocking community can listen to without being put off. Therefore my ranking of this album is just about middle of the road. I can’t make more of it, unfortunately.
