From The Abyss

As if 2020 has not yet been chaotic enough, Colombian veteran Black Metallers ESHTADUR comes back with their fourth full-length "From The Abyss" three years after the release of the successful "Mother Gray". In case you didn't know, this band began their journey in 2006, when they released "Timo Be Timo", and has since then released ten materials and toured with some big names, like CRADLE OF FILTH, VADER, GRAVEWORM, COLDBLOOD, and ABBADON INCARNATE.
Right from the kickoff, there is a very clear semblance of BEHEMOTH and SEPTICFLESH in their sound, maneuvering through a brutal yet melodic approach to their music. From the opener, "Lowborn Bastard", that is the name of the game. That also comes in with a punch of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE's grandiose symphonic arrangements mingling perfectly with their fast-paced attacks. The guitar solos give even more boost to each song, providing much more energy and thrill with its screeching shred. The rhythms just behind them in the mix do such an excellent job of providing a solid foundation that often initiates the buildups and transitions within the song.
Lyrically, Jorg August delivered a master class on how to write meaningful lyrics that tackle human behaviors and emotions without moving away from the sinister nature of their songs. This is perfectly displayed on the tracks "The Red Door" and "The Oathbreaker". Production-wise, this album also showed that it can compete with other bands out there with the quality of sound they have crafted with some arena-ready songs like "Lowhorn Bastard" and "All She Wrote".
Overall, it is safe to say that this album is their most mature and most cultured release yet. The songwriting and the way the album was executed is simply masterful, to say the least. Most importantly, they give justice to the title of the album. The album really sounds as if it came from the abyss itself, shining with an aura of sinister symphonies.
