ERADICATION OF THE UNWORTHY INFANTS or short EOUI were formed in 2016 and they are based in Helsinki, Finland. Since vocalist and drummer Jad Batrony comes from US, EQUI is strictly speaking a Finnish/US Death Metal and Grindcore band. Prior to their debut album, they released one split. "Change Is Good" has a length of about 34 minutes and it was released via Italian label WormHoleDeath, which is specialized in Death, Thrash, and Black Metal.

"Change Is Good" starts strongly with a short head-banger at mid-tempo including powerful guitar riffing and brutal growling ranging from the low to the medium end of the guttural range. With just more than a minute playing time, it creates the right atmosphere for the things to come. "In The Dust" is the official video release and the YouTube link is given below. "Sacrilege" continues with that sound, it starts at a higher pace, but quickly goes back to mid-tempo with distorted rhythms and breakdowns. "Blastocyst" starts at frantic pace and a first blast-beat attack. While the riffing of the first two tracks were simple and effective, "Blastocyst" contains more complex guitar riffing.

"Watch It Fall" starts with very powerful and dark guitar riffing at a slow and stomping rhythm. Vocalist Jad Batrony has some support by guest vocalist Lukas Swiaczny (STILLBIRTH) and the duo has an excellent performance on this spine-chilling track. After the short track "Dues", "Among The Hordes" raises the heat even further and it is one of the highlight of the album. The mid-tempo track has all the attributes of a good Death Metal/Deathcore track: the aggressive and dark riffing, the brutal growling, the grooves, and the breakdowns. "Crocodile Tears" starts with a blast-beat thunderstorm and at insane speed, before it transitions into mid-tempo. During the mid-tempo part, there are a lot of changes and twists in rhythm and vocals including a few harsh, but clean vocals with a few Hardcore vibes. "Inhumane" is mostly played at a higher pace with simple and very aggressive guitar riffing and vocals. The drums are driving the track forward and it finishes with a short down-tempo part.

While "Nuclear Meltdown" is a very hectic track with a lot of guitar riffing, where drumming and vocals follow the riffing, "Calamity" starts and ends powerful and almost doom-laden at slow pace, interrupted by a break at breakneck speed where all hell breaks loose. "Dissociative" is a hammering track with grim riffing at a stomping rhythm where the guitars and drums waltz their way through like a bulldozer. The drumming includes plenty of double-bass and the vocals are versatile and including a few higher pitched screams. "Eradication Of The Unworthy Infants" closes the album and it is another album highlight. There are frequent changes in rhythm and tempo ranging from down-tempo up to high speed attacks. The drumming is very comprehensive and the best drumming what the album has to offer.

"Change Is Good" is a decent debut album. It is a blend of Death Metal, Grindcore, and Deathcore. EQUI deliver a Death Metal sound which does not fit into categories. It has something of everything, which makes it interesting to listen to. Having said this, in my opinion, the guitar riffing is monotone and repetitive at times while the drumming could be often more comprehensive. The exception here are the last two tracks. The songwriting needs still a little bit of improvement. The album is well produced. "Change Is Good" shows that EQUI have enough potential to establish themselves in the Death Metal arena.
