Brutal Death Metal is a genre that many of us love. Some for the devastating heaviness, others for the musicianship that it takes to play this genre properly, and yet others who enjoy the depravity that some bands go for within their lyrical content. If you are like me, then you enjoy those aspects, and all the other great things about death metal, then you'll want to know all about EMBROYNIC AUTOPSY.

EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY is heavy, and their debut album for Massacre Records, "Prophecies of the Conjoined," shows the band operating at full tilt, delivering their fans the musical experience they deserve.

I was struck by the sounds I was hearing as I began listening to the album, in awe of the razor-edged riffing of the guitars, the sheer brutality of the vocal performances, and the all-out attack of these songs. EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY is crushing, and the following are the tracks that I found to be the best.

"Prophecies of the Conjoined" is one of the heavier tracks on this album, never letting up on the aggression, even during the brief lighter sections. This is what makes me really love the song too, the fact that they can back off a little bit, and still pummel you; that diverse approach also helps create an even more interesting listening experience.

"Cannibalized by Octuplets" wins the prize for most amusing song title, and for being just as heavy as that title suggests it is. The music has a CANNIBAL CORPSE feel, while the vocals are supremely guttural, a fact that is true for a good portion of the album. If pressed for comparisons, I'd have to say that there is some Chris Barnes and Barney Greenway of Napalm Death mixed with more of the crust and Grindcore vocal style of the more modern era.

Another banger of a track is "Craving of the Mutated Fetus," a song that is brutal and to the point, coming in at just under three minutes total. Despite the short runtime, this track will pummel you from start to finish, and leave you wanting more of the sonic devastation that EMBRYONIC AUTOPSY is so good at delivering. The riffs are fast and precise, the vocals are amazing, and the track is a crusher in every way possible.

Other standout songs include, "Upon the Mayan Throne," "Cauterized Womb Impalement," and "Splicing the Alien Gene".
