Eluveitie - Helvetios album cover

Innovative has been a word frequently associated to ELUVEITIE, why? If you have been in the Metal world for the last three years, you probably know what I'm talking about, but if you don't... sorry, I won't tell you anything because you have been far away from where you should be.

"Helvetios" has very strong sections, but as you may know: a chain is as hard as its weakest link. That's exactly the reason why this album has no better things heard before. It's like they have done it all in "Slania". This latest release took me more than a great number of listens to say something favorable, because this album is mainly a good composition of fillers (excluding 5 or 6 tracks in my taste), obviously staying aside from the great talent of these guys, who as I've always thought "They're like a mini-HAGGARD" (in the numbers, not the music, in case you'd been ready to spit in my face).

Great folk parts, always beautiful to listen to, making you think about living in the woods, the life in the forest, the always marvelous nature (hell yeah, ELUVEITIE has the power to make you believe that); not so catchy riffs, because at the last track you could only say that these riffs became repetitive and lifeless, good vocals, good percussion, very good production. Anyway, this album left me in mixed feelings that I cannot express only in words, that's one thing you would just understand after hearing this.

"Helvetios" may be good for the die-hard fans of folk music and ELUVEITIE, but for the rest, including me, as a great fan of innovative Metal music, I can say that this release would be easily forgotten, nothing new, nothing to mark, and still you should give it a try...only to forget what I was about to say.
