DREAMS OF AVALON is a Rock project that created by the Swedish producer, musician, and songwriter Joakim Nordlund. Since it was founded, they have recorded eleven albums, the last being "Beyon the Dream" and the one that will be reviewed.
The opening track from the album is "Young Wild Hearts" which have a clearly influence of BON JOVI on it's vocal lines, guitar riffs and structure, it reminds a lot of the song "You Give Love A Bad Name" - that being said, you can only expect that it is a good song and there are great melodies coming from the guitars, nice vocal work and great bass and drum to keep it good.
We have "Under the Gun" as the next song and it seems to be more unique, not with a lot of other band's touch on it, such a nice chorus. "Shining Light" is a very nice song that starts with a great synthesizer and keyboard work that will bring you back to the 1980's imagine added to it a nice guitar solo, backing vocals and all the vibe that you could ask from one of the best eras of musical history.
"Bleed For Me" starts out with a great acoustic guitar that will make you think that it is a ballad, but then great and heavy guitar riffs following a Metal line comes in and brings all the energy that the band has. There is a great vocal work here. "Run For Cover" starts out with the 1980's vibe and the ambiance created by the keyboards and synthesizers mixed up with the Heavy Metal guitars and Hard Rock vocals are astonishing!
The next sequence containing the songs "Into the Night", "On The Run" and "To Paris and Back" is pretty good and keep up the great work that they are doing on that album. "Stop" starts with a very nice electronic sound that is soon mixed with beautiful guitar riffs and a very good vocal from Joakim that will blow your mind away. It is one of the best songs from the whole album, just listen to it.
Now we have the two last songs from the album "Black Demons" which reminded me a little bit of the AVANTASIA's melodies, vocal chorus, and instrumental parts and "Somewhere Tonight" which is the song that closes the material. It starts out with a nice guitar work and a keyboard melody on the background. This song has a little bit of sadness on it, but it is energetic, and I believe that it was a great way to keep the good vibe.
DREAMS OF AVALON have written and released a great album with a lot of amazing melodies, riffs, vocals, bass and drum lines and nice arrangements. It is indeed an A class album that will blow every 1980's musical fans mind.
