Sinister Minister
Dreaming Death

People usually don’t have the knowledge about how the Australia extreme Metal scene is full of excellent names since the past. Bands as SADISTIK EXEKUTION, ABRAMELIN, MORTIFICATION, BESTIAL WARLUST, DISEMBOWELMENT, INFECTED, MISERY, PARAMÆCIUM and others achieved praise into underground, laying the foundations of Australian extreme Metal scene, and their legacy in undeniable. Today, to hear an act as DREAMING DEATH, from Adelaide, isn’t something unexpected. And their first release, the EP “Sinister Minister” has some surprises to offer to the fans of extreme Metal ways.
The band worked under the guidance of Andy Kite at Against the Grain Studio (and he did the recordings, mixing and mastering of the songs between 2021 and 2023). But even taking such long period of time, the songs sound consensual, with a rough and aggressive sonority, with fine instrumental tunes and everything sounds in a very, very good way. To establish what they play, the illustration of Jenglot Hitam, along with the layout of Pahl Hodgson (the band’s singer/guitarist) and the logo created by the drummer Matt “Skitz” Sanders leave no doubts.
It's obvious that they’re a Death Metal act in the classic way of the genre - in other words, what the genre used to be between 1990 and 1993, during the days of the Second Wave of Death Metal - but using a good technical appeal and very good Death/Thrash Metal elements on the mix (clearly heard on “With the Blessing of the Dead”). Their music bleeds in pure energy and aggressiveness, but one will perceive that there are thinking minds behind their music, what makes things even better.
“With the Blessing of the Dead” is a song filled with many rhythmic contrasts, what means a very heavy and good work on bass guitar and drums (and pay attention on the contrasts on the tunes of the vocals). “Corpse Flayer” keeps the sickening feeling of the previous song, based on very good midtempos and excellent guitar riffs and arrangements (and some Old School Hardcore influences can be heard). “The Coin and the Rune” is a fast and insane Death/Thrash Metal song with insane snarls on the vocals, and “Necrospell” keeps such aspect on high level (but with brutal blast beats and insane double bass parts) and “Sinister Minister” (charming and surprising keyboards parts appears, and prepare for some sick guitar leads) are songs that combines influences from North American and Swedish Death Metal Schools with Thrash/Death Metal traces, but all of them showing that this trio is up to shatter the world into pieces!
DREAMING DEATH came and created higher expectations for the future, so listen to “Sinister Minister” and blow your neighborhood to pieces!
