Dragonland - Under the Grey Banner album cover

After five years we are the witnesses of the return of a band that is no stranger to anyone, or at least most. DRAGONLAND made a comeback with the final chapter of their trilogy epic story. (I have to say that I didn't understand it very well in the first place). This band is the proof that Power Metal nowadays, although with the lyrics that are very cheesy and predictable, the musical direction can always surprise while using elements that have been there for a long time, but mixed in many ways. First of all, one of the things I have to highlight from other epic albums, including this one, is the fact that I like the intros. Most of them are good as those are powerful and of course fulfilling an important part in the story's concept.

With that being said, I'm trying to make you understand that even thoughthe atmospheres, orchestrations, mid tempo riffs, high pitched voice and choirs are the same as used before, those caught my attention the way they pack in every track in this record. The album contained some really great orchestral parts filling the atmosphere of an epic tale where I felt right knee deep in it. Furthermore, the catchy riffs and catchy choirs showed the great talented people in this band as it turned out from the charactersthat the vocals create to the surroundings of the whole music, and the theatrical parts that are spread around the album.

"Under The Grey Banner"is clearly a strong successor of the previous albums, screening the constant evolution of DRAGONLAND's own style. Again I am not saying that this has not been made before, but marks a good effort by the band in making themselves a name in a worldwide scene full of Power Metal bands that has almost nothing new to offer to the eager fans.
