Revelations
Doubting Thompson

DOUBTING THOMPSON is a one-man band from Winsconsin in the USA. This is basically old-school thrash with some furious lead thrown in for good measure. "Revelations" is the third EP from Jeff and is released on Sliptrick Records.
At less than 18 minutes long and 5 tracks (one instrumental), it's not a long album by any means.
"Class Warfare" opens the album and I quite liked the thrash riff but vocals were too low in the mix, very echoey and not mixed in very well with the overall sound.
"Winsconsin" is clearly not a state that Jeff enjoys living in and his disaffection is announced with the sound of cows mooing which makes sense with the lyrics:
"Winsconsin - the dairy state that's full of cheese. Winsconsin - there's nothing there but fucking trees."
It did at least cause a suppressed laugh particularly with the last cow's apathetic moo. Not sure if laughter was the intention here though...
"Revelations" a song about the internet age has some nice thrash guitar which reminded me a bit of SLAYER. Unfortunately, the vocals are way too echoey and sound out of place next to the heavier guitar sound.
"Sludge" is the instrumental which is 5 minutes long but unfortunately should be called "Boredom" as the main muted riff is just dull. There's an irritating scratchy sound on the mix too which became annoying. However, the song is redeemed in the second half by some scintillating lead guitar, making the song to sound like MEGADETH.
"Dumbfucked" is a song about religion and I liked the lead guitar and the alternate second vocal of "FUCKED!" and "DUMBFUCKED!" between the main verses of the song.
However, there isn't anything here that makes you want to listen to it again. "Revelations" is a poorly mixed album with the vocals being too echoey (maybe to hide the fact that Jeff isn't a great singer?) and other than the lead guitar which is admittedly the highlight, there's nothing here that adds anything to the plethora of Thrash Metal albums out there.
