Doomed to Fail - Fury album cover

Three Austrian friends got together to jam, with a pure love of making music in 2015, Jakob on bass, and Patrick and René on guitar. They recorded an EP as the three of them, however the band didn't take full force until Immanuel on vocals and Alex on drums joined in 2016. With the upcoming release of "Fury", DOOMED TO FAIL is releasing their first full length album as the five of them. Their mission statement, "to make music suck a little less", is worth noting as these five bring all different types of metal talent to the band. While Patrick a has clear Thrash style, René has Black Metal sounds, Jakob adds a groovy rock mix, Alex is just a monster, and Manu has a wide range of vocal styles. Since they are so new to the scene, I'd like to formerly welcome them to the world of metal. While small for now, I have a feeling their fanbase will get larger relatively fast.

"Betrayer" - This song has a very Thrash Metal sound. Multiple vocals, ranging from deep guttural sung vocals to the higher pitched, devilish sounding screamed words. With a fast-paced beat on both guitars/bass, to the drums, this is a song that will keep you on your toes. However, towards the end of the song there is some riffs that, for a second, have some jazzy undertones that I adore. "Rise" - Again, a very hard-hitting song with multiple vocal levels and melodic undertones. This song has some very old school vibes. Due to the mix of metal genres each player in the band brings, I can't compare them to anyone specific. Rather say, there is many pieces involved in this that make a whole and it's beautiful.

"Servants of the Grey" - Thrash metal from the "get go". I actually dig that we have the two vocalists that complement each other so well throughout this album. It adds multi levels of layers to the whole mix. "Once More Into the Fray"- With a little bit of a softer entry, the melodic guitar in this song is lovely. It creates a good flow, a good beat, that leads us into the awesomeness that is our two vocalists.

I truly feel the combo of the different genres of metal each person brings to this band makes them stand out. They just don't sound like everyone else and I have a hard time comparing them to any specific band, rather a whole slew of bands that I can see influences from. However, the thrash portion of this is very old school and I feel this album will appeal to a lot of your old school metalheads. "Fury" starts strong and ends strong. This is a great album and I do recommend giving it a listen.
