What can I say!! The gods are back! Norway's Dimmu Borgir strike hard with their new release Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. Once again the band has created a masterpiece in aggressive music with outstanding atmosphere and dark, evil songs.
The songwriting is at its best making Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia maybe the band's strongest release to date. Also the band has recorded some tracks with the Gothenburg symphonic orchestra creating astonishing conclusions sure to turn heads. Nothing much has changed in Dimmu Borgir's music since their previous album Spiritual Black Dimentions concerning the music, which tends to be atmospheric and rhythmic from time to time and suddenly blasts itself in the wings of absolute speed. The result is nothing short of perfection, from the complex guitar work (Galder of Old Man's Child has joined the band) to the awesome keyboard magic. The drummer, Nick Barker, blasts through the material with brutal force and Hestnaes' bass rumbles fiercely. As for Shagrath, he pushes himself to the underworld bringing back an even more demonic voice.
Every song has its own feeling of darkness and despair which bonds absolutely with the great production of the CD which was recorded at the well known Fredman Studios in Sweden (At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity). The whole bonding makes the listener actually feel the songs.
Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is not just another Dimmu Borgir release that many would expect, it possesses its own dark emotions and experience that only an experienced band like Dimmu Borgir can deliver.
