Die Krupps - Metal Machine Music album cover

DIE KRUPPS is the brainchild of German punk-rocker Jurgen Engler who has been influencing the music landscape since forming DIE KRUPPS in 1980. DIE KRUPPS will put out in their latest release titled "Metal Machine Music" via SPV/Steamhammer on August 28th, 2015.

DIE KRUPPS has unleashed an Electronic-Rock assault with their latest effort "Metal Machine Music" using synthesized sounds from Ralf Droper, as well as some incredible key performances from Jurgen Engler. The background music provided by Marcel Zurcher & Niles Finkeisen on guitars, and Volker Borchert on drums make for a breakneck pace that sets the stage for a gigantic Electronic-Rock sound that comes through the speakers for the next 13 songs.

Many of the Electronica elements of the songs correlate with the topics of the song. For example, on "Road Rage Warriors" you can hear motors revving up engines in the background, and during "Kaos Reigns" there are more insane background sounds which sounds exactly like chaos in the background. A lot of those noises are undecipherable as they would be if chaos really was reigning over a place. The synthesizer sounds really add an Eletronica punch to the music that is not heard by many other bands, but make no mistake that this is still a rock band. It's loud, heavy, and thundering. The vocals are mostly clean, however Jurgen does break out some growls and screams at times, and appropriately inserts them into his songs to make the music heavier, and harder-hitting.

The topics are definitely "metal" enough with titles such as "Bonded By Blood", "The Red Line", and "Branded" as he talks about blood, war, aggression/violence, and survival as we are trying to live in a world that is ever-changing and constantly evolving. All of the lyrics are in English except during the songs "Kaltes Herz" and "Voile Kraft Voravs", which open and close the track respectively. It adds a neat bit of change to the album, and gives it some more feel. It makes it unmistakably DIE KRUPPS's own.

DIE KRUPPS have released another Heavy Metal assault crossed with Electronica elements that will definitely go down as influencing the Rock/Metal scene as they have been since their inception in 1980. Jurgen Engler proves once again that even after three-plus decades on the music scene that he has many more fresh ideas that will continue to influence music, and flip Rock & Metal as we know it on it's head to do something new that no one else thinks of, and as always it works shockingly well.
